Job Summary

Toaster is looking for an ambitious and eager individual to join our client management and new business team in NYC. As a Business Director, you will play a pivotal role in the studio's next phase of growth. This hybrid position requires a blend of high-level client management and ambitious business development. You will be responsible for the smooth running and development of existing accounts, maintaining oversight of projects from brief to final delivery in collaboration with producers. Simultaneously, you will shape and execute the commercial growth strategy for the region, building on the agency’s foundations to drive revenue and position the agency as a leader in the creative industry.



What you’ll be doing

Business Development & Regional Growth

  • Strategy & Proposition: Lead the development and implementation of effective sales strategies that drive business growth. You will collaborate with leadership to shape the agency's proposition and brand strategy for the region.

  • Lead Generation: Drive new business leads by developing and activating prospecting plans through a strong network of client and corporate relationships.

  • Pipeline Management: Proactively seek and identify new revenue opportunities, manage the sales pipeline, and assist with performance reporting.

  • Pitch Management: Oversee the end-to-end management of delivery for RFIs and RFPs. You will project manage the development of pitch collateral, case studies, and credentials, supporting the pitch team with competitive research and logistics.

  • Networking & Profile: Use your network to build relationships and bring in new contracts. You will be proactive and visible in the industry to help build the agency's reputation, attending conferences and industry events.

  • Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate contracts alongside the Managing Director to ensure profitability and manage risk.


Client Management & Oversight

  • Client Immersion: Immerse yourself in the client's brand and offerings to build strong, trustful relationships.

  • Strategic Vision: Help set the strategic vision for clients by working to understand their needs and partnering with internal strategy leads to build out solutions.

  • Project Oversight: While producers will handle daily execution and tracking, you will maintain oversight of projects from brief to delivery to ensure final materials are on time and of the highest quality. 

  • Workflow Management: Ensure clients understand agreed workflows and manage their expectations regarding deliverables and timeframes.

  • Communication: Expertly liaise between clients and internal creative/production teams to ensure all parties have reasonable expectations. 


Financial & Operational

  • Forecasting: Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process for client and internal projects.

  • Profitability: Help develop initiatives to maximize profitability and ensure resources are utilized effectively.

  • Process Improvement: Drive best practice and knowledge sharing within the team, identifying areas for improvement in workflows that could benefit the client.



What you’ll bring 

  • Experience: Significant experience in professional client relationship management, ideally with a background in advertising, design, or marketing. Experience working with global tech clients is highly desirable.

  • Strategic Thinking: Exceptional strategic abilities to analyze market trends, identify opportunities, and develop innovative strategies for revenue growth.

  • Business Acumen: A strong understanding of the industry, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.

  • Negotiation Skills: Practical negotiation skills for building relationships, persuading stakeholders, and finding mutually beneficial agreements.

  • Communication: You must be a confident communicator to both internal and external stakeholders with strong written and oral skills.

  • Global Mindset: An understanding of cultural nuances to adapt commercial strategies to different regions.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong IT literacy, including experience working professionally with all Google platforms (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Meet).

  • Adaptability: The ability to foster warm, prosperous client relationships while remaining resilient in the face of change.
